China Boosts Feeder Line Air Transport Development

China will support the production of domestically made aircraft for civil use and speed up feeder line expansion, said Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo on Sunday.

E#nterprises in the aviation industry should improve the quality of aircraft, provide better after-sale services, and try every possible means to satisfy the various needs of their customers, Wusaid at a new aircraft demonstration ceremony held in Beijing on Sunday.

One new aircraft, called "Xinzhou 60," has a range of 1,600 km and speeds up to 504 km per hour. The principal functions of this 60-seat aircraft approaches the advanced level of similar model in other countries, but its price is one-third less than foreign aircraft.

Feeder line transport has great potential in central and western China, and can help develop tourism and boost economic development in the region, Wu said.

China now has fewer than 100 feeder line passenger aircraft, which have a low utilization rate. In the wake of accelerated economic development in western China, the number these aircraft will be increased to 400 during the next 20 years.
