China, Argentina Sign Accord on WTO Accession

China and Argentina Saturday signed an agreement on China's admission into the World Trade Organization (WTO), opening a new chapter in the growth of economic relations between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by Argentine Vice Foreign Minister in charge of international economic relations Horacio Chighizola and Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Sun Zhenyu at the end of two days of negotiations held on March 9-10 in the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

Present at the signing ceremony among others were Vice Foreign Minister in charge of international commerce and consular affairs Alberto Ham and Chinese ambassador to Argentina Xu Yicong.

Sun said he considers the signing of the agreement with Argentina very important as it means a great promotion for China's admission into the WTO.

He underscored the great economic potential of both countries as well as the economic complementarity and bright outlook for cooperation between them.

He expressed the hope that China and Argentina will make joint efforts in protecting the interests of the developing countries in the WTO.

While stressing the importance of China's entry into the WTO, Chighizola said the agreement will open new vistas for the future development of bilateral relations and will contribute to the development of multilateral economic and commercial links.
