Chinese Skaters Win 1000m Short Track Titles

Chinese skaters defeated their South Korean and Canadian rivals to win the men's and women's 1, 000 meters events at the world short track speed skating championships here Sunday afternoon.

Yang Yang (A), who is now bidding for her fourth consecutive overall title at the championships, finished first in the women's discipline with a time of one minute 40.363 seconds. Her teammate Yang Yang (S), from Changchun, Northeast China, was second at 1:40.683 with South Korean Joo Min-jin third at 1:40. 742

Bulgarian Evgenia Radanova, a strong contender for the overall gold, did not make finals in the distance.

While in the men's event, China's all-around title defender Li Jiajun clocked one minute 31.098 seconds to end up first. His compatriot An Yulong was second at 1:31.212 and American Daniel Weinstein third at 1:33.228.
