Hundreds of Swans Gathering In Beijing Lake

Some two to three hundreds swans have been found swimming around Miyun Reservoir in suburban Beijing, accompanied by a large group of mallards.

It has been years since these swans have gathered on the waters near East Tiangezhuang Village on the north bank of the Miyun Reservoir, the Beijing Daily reported today.

Experts attribute the recent migration and temporary stay here to the reservoir's good environment, clean water, and abundant food supply.

The Miyun Reservoir, with an area of 188 sq. km, is a major source of Beijing's drinking water. Forest and vegetation coverage around the reservoir has reached 90 percent.
