China to Increase Internet Outlet Bandwidth

Huang Chengqing, director of Quality Supervision Department under the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) Telecom Office disclosed on March 8 that China will increase its Internet outlet bandwidth from 351Mb/s to 1Gb/s this year to solve the online slow-speed problem.

Huang reminded if the customers are not satisfied with services provided the most effective way is to take legal proceedings against related telecom companies.

The MII also made known the way to contact the Customer Accepting Center on February 18: The latter will announce a case every quarter thereby to form a supervision system from July 1 this year.

Huang said "Telecom Service Standards" (Trial Edition) promulgated by MII last February 18 will be carried out as basic criteria to be followed by telecom companies from June 1 this year. The concerned government departments should make periodic revision of the "Standards" and get the standards publicized according to the demand of customers and the development of telecom technology and businesses of the endeavor.
