As of 17:00 Tuesday, the ongoing Third Session of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) has received 3, 316 proposals from members of the CPPCC National Committee, an increase of 223 over the previous session. Of the proposals, over 1,300 involve economic issues, over 900 deal with science, technology, education and health, and over 800 are related to judicial and united front matters, according to the Subcommittee for Handling Proposals of the CPPCC National Committee. The strategy of developing the western region is the top concern. The subcommittee will examine the proposals and, afterwards, hand over those that are put on records to concerned Party units, government departments or non-government organizations for handling. Proposals that have not been registered will be treated under the category of letters from the CPPCC National Committee members. |
