International Symposium of Women Entrepreneurs Opens in Hainan

More than 260 women entrepreneurs from the Chinese mainland and overseas are attending a three-day international symposium on businesswomen in Haikou, the provincial capital of Hainan.

The symposium, which opened Monday, is the first international academic exchange activity ever organized for businesswomen in China.

During the symposium, participants are conducting discussions on a variety of topics concerning opportunities and challenges faced by female entrepreneurs, market changes after China's accession into the World Trade Organization (WTO), and ways of determining business opportunities. They will also participate in tours around the island province.

The organizers of the symposium have received more than 120 academic papers which will be put into an English-Chinese academic- paper collection and circulated globally.

The symposium is sponsored by the China Businesswomen Association and the Hainan Provincial Businesswomen Sub- Association as part of the activities celebrating tomorrow's International Women's Day.
