Japan: China Policy Unchanged

The Japanese Government will continue to develop bilateral ties with China despite Beijing's warning against activities of ultra-right forces in Japan, Chief Cabinet Secretary Mikio Aoki said Monday.

Aoki told reporters that the Japanese Government remains committed to developing bilateral ties based on consensus reached by the two countries.

He made the remarks after Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said on Sunday that the attempts by a handful of ultra-right forces in Japan to obstruct and undermine Sino-Japanese relations must be guarded against.
