CPPCC Member You Suggests Issuing Educational Lotteries

Social-welfare and sports lotteries currently sell well in China. But can educational lotteries be issued? You Qingquan, delegate to the Third Session of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), vice-chairman of China Democratic League Hubei Committee, said that issuing educational lotteries will benefit the country, people and educational undertakings.

You Qingquan said that educational undertakings, the same as that of social welfare and sports, is a public welfare undertakings. The shortage of educational fund is a bottleneck hindering the educational development of China. Reliance on State allocations and donations to the Project Hope is far from enough to satisfy needs for educational development. So You maintained that issuing educational lotteries on a trial basis is a feasible new way to develop education.
