Han Zhubin, procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, announced in Beijing Tuesday 10 new rules meant to keep the procuratorates clean and cost-conscious.

Though the overall quality of the country's procurators has been improved in recent years, a lot still needs to be done to meet the demands of the Party and the people, Han said.

The new rules forbid procurators from leaking information to or seeking it from interested parties, or interfering in cases involving them.

Procurators are not allowed to attend banquets or entertainment activities, accept gifts, or use vehicles or telecommunication devices from interested parties, according to the principles.

In addition, procurators are also forbidden from drinking in uniform in public places, engaging in business or seeking business interests for family members and relatives.

Procurators and procuratorates at all levels should strictly abide by the principles, Han said at a national procuratorial meeting here. Violators will be sacked, Han added.

Last year, a total of 694 procurators of the country were investigated for rule-breaking. Some 544 procurators faced disciplinary measures, and 55 were sent to judicial departments to handle.
