Unco Glacier Wonder Seen in Tibet

A group of Chinese scientists had gone on a scientific research expedition to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau last year. As has been told by the scientists, in the eastern part of Tibet there is an unco glacier wonder that has seen on the plateau.

Being regarded as the most spectacular and the largest unco natural phenomenon in Tibet and possibly by people the world over, the glacier wonder has been seen with large weird masses of glaciers, lakes and deserts distributed in it.

Pu Jianchen, associate research fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is one among those of Chinese scientists who had gone on the scientific research expedition to Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. He is now attending the annual meeting of "formation and evolvement of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its environment and resource effect" in Beijing. He told that they had set out in the direction of unco glacier wonder Punuogangri in August and reached their destination 5,000 meters above sea level by early September. They found that the unco glacier wonder is as a matter of fact a giant ice pool of around 420 sq.km. formed of a great many of different sizes of chain cap-like ice masses with a gentle topography. The highest part of snow accumulation in the place rises to as many as 6283 meters above sea level. As depth measuring by radar can only reach 350 meters, an accurate depth of 400 meters of snow is estimated.
