A museum built at the site of Xiaoling, the mausoleum of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), opened Sunday in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

Xiaoling is the one of the largest existing imperial mausoleums in China. Museum-goers can roam through ruins of buildings in the mausoleum area and see rare treasures unearthed from the site.

The mausoleum is regarded as one of China's key historical relics and is under State protection. A large number of historical relics have been excavated at the site. The above-ground structures and stone carvings are of great artistic value, according to experts.
