China Calls for Protection of Chrius

Chinese representatives called for effective measures by related countries to protect chrius, a rare species of wild antelopes living mainly on its Qinghai-Tibet Plateaus of China at the Asian International Trade Convention on Endangered Wild Animals and Plant Species held in Phnom Penh of Cambodia.

It is pointed out that chriu smuggling and sale should be severely punished by France and others as chirus products producers and consumers and that they should do wide publicizing work in the way chrius products will not be regarded as a symbol of wealth or fashion. Money support is also demanded along with other forms of aid to countries concerned for a crackdown on poaching and chiru skin deals.

Nearly 100 representatives from 45 countries talked about the current situation and problems with regard to protection of endangered animal and plant species in Asia and also had an exchange of experience for protection of the said species at the conference.
