Friday, February 25, 2000, updated at 16:17(GMT+8) Culture Sichuan to Give Weekly Report on Major City Atmospheric QualitySources from Sichuan Environmental Protection Bureau show that Sichuan Province has started its uninterrupted monitoring on the atmospheric quality in the province's major cities recently. A weekly report on the atmospheric quality in the province's major cities will be published sometime before June 5, the World Environment Day. Continuous monitoring of atmospheric quality will be introduced in the first group of 13 cities, including Panzhihua, Mianyang, Guangyuan, Luzhou, Leshan and Yibin of Sichuan Province. They will report their monitoring data regularly to Sichuan Environmental Protection Bureau, beginning from April. On the basis of the data collected from various localities, the bureau will submit a report to the provincial government for examination. Sichuan Environmental Protection Bureau indicated that when conditions are ripe, Sichuan will publish daily, instead of weekly, report on the atmospheric quality of major cities in Sichuan Province.
