From the late February to the early March, Hong Kong will for the first time host the Asian Table Tennis Qualifying Games to the Sydney Olympics. Representative teams of 20 countries and regions including China have affirmed their participation. According to report, a total of 20 strong teams from all over the world will gather in Hong Kong then. The 20 teams are from China, Japan, South Korea, China's Taipei, China's Hong Kong and Singapore, Bhutan, India, Iraq, Kazakhastan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia. Top ping-pong players including Kong Linghui, Liu Guoliang, Wang Nan and Li Ju from China, Chen Jing and Yue Jing from China's Taipei, Kim Taek Soo and and Sibuya Hirosi and Matusita Kouji from Japan will be among the 57 male athletes and 51 female athletes, Since table tennis was listed as the formal item at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988, the past three qualifier games in Asia area were all held in Japan. |
