It is divulged by the tourism department of Shaanxi Province that a new situation will be created for the province's tourist industry this year. Shaanxi, the ancient capital of Zhou, Qin, Han, Tang and other dynasties of great prosperity, will introduce four large cultural tourism regions of Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang to the world this year. In order to develop a world-level tourism region of Qin Culture around the tomb of Emperor Qinshihuang, it will build site museums and subject exhibition halls at the place where stone armors, bronze carts and horses, tombs of figurines and tombs of men who built tombs were found, these, plus the existing museum housing terracotta figures of warriors and horses, form a grand Qinshihuang Tomb Museum. Presently it has set about to requisition nearly 3000 mu (15 mu = one hectare) of land to prepare for development and construction. The Han culture tourism area started to be developed is located at the Hanyang tomb over 10 km to the north of Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province. Archaeologists have found more than 80 burial pits and 5000 subordinate tombs under the ground of this mausoleum. The departments of cultural relics and tourism will explore, excavate, protect and utilize this "underground treasure- house of cultural relics", now they have requisitioned 2900 mu of land. Besides, since last fall, archaeologists have launched large-scale excavation of the Zhouyuan site, the birthplace of the Western Zhou Dynasty, and explored, excavated and protected the Qian Tomb of Empress Wu Zetian and part of the remains of the Daming Palace of the Tang Imperial Palace. All of these are expected to become the major parts of the tourism region of Zhou and Tang Culture. |
