Following the great strategy to open up Western China, China Oil and Gas Corporation is making an active effort to exploit natural gas resources in Western China. It sees to it that natural gas is to be "moved east from the west" and that a due part is going to be played by natural gas resources from that part of the country in the Chinese market.

Natural gas production and project construction as have been planned by the Corporation will be accelerated in Sichuan, Chongqing and Qinghai along with expansions to be launched on projects in Jingbian of Changqing and Wusheng area to ensure Beijing and Tianjin with guaranteed natural gas supply. With these, natural gas exploitation will also be conducted at Tarim so that a new economic growth point is to be created through developing natural gas production in Western China.
