Earthquake Jolts Western China Mountain Area

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale hit the Tanggula Range area in western China at 08:04 (Beijing time) February 12, according to the State Seismological Bureau.

The epicenter was at 33.8 degrees North Latitude and 90.8 degrees East Longitude in the Tanggula Range area in the juncture of Qinghai Province and the Tibet Autonomous Region.

As the area is sparsely populated, there has been no report yet about any damages caused by the quake.
