Land Rearranged in Ulanchabu League

The last five years have seen over 12 million mu of farmlands that have been turned into pastureland or re-afforestated in Ulanchabu League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region!

Ulanchabu League, lying between Mongolian plateau and the North China Plain, is known to history as a place that has long suffered from a dearth of rainfall. Chronic famine and poverty had already asked their untold toll in the place. There seemed to be no way out for people living in the area in history.

But things came to take a turn at long last five years ago on this dry land. A gigantic effort was strategically launched to turn large tracts of farmlands into pastureland and have large forests rebuilt. A total of 12 million mu of farmland were registered and these had been accomplished merely in a matter of five years. People in the place had come to know that no enough food could be found merely from their large-scale land reclamation. Since after completion of their land rearrangement a long drought spell struck last year. But no famine ever wrought havoc and things were still found easy going as they had been on this erstwhile dry pastureland.

Though poverty still hangs on and has not completely become something of the past yet people in the whole of Ulanchabu League have come to find the hope and the way out from their land rearrangement in Ulanchabu League.

What does Ulanchabu League people's land rearrangement signify for Chinese builders in an all-out opening up effort as things are now seen in China in speeding up the country's economic construction and its modernization drive in central and western China. By its grandeur and magnitude Ulanchabu League people's land rearrangement is without doubt a part of the gigantic effort for China's pastureland and economic construction.
