South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will host an exhibition from February 1 to 28 in the regional capital of Nanning on the history and culture of the dragon, a symbol of Chinese civilization. The exhibition will feature the 7,000-year evolution of the dragon image, crafts, painting, finery and architecture centered on the dragon, and dragon-related sports and cultural activities such as the dragon boat and dragon dance. Nearly 300 exhibits and photos will be on display during the one-month event, the first of its kind in China. At the same time, the autonomous regional cultural department will hold a dragon lantern fair and a cultural activity during which one million people will jointly paint a gigantic dragon. The exhibition will move to other cities in China beginning in March. |
