Defending champion Martina Hingis will meet No.2 seed Lindsay Davenport in the Australian Open final at the Melbourne Park after a 6-3, 6-2 win over Martina..

Hingis, top-seeded in the tournament, continued on her straight sets way at the open on Thursday with another regulation 6-3, 6-2 win in 61 minutes over Spain's Martina Hingis in the semi-final.

Hingis now holds an 8-2 win-loss record over Martinez, the last time she lost to the Spaniard was in 1996 in Rome.

The 18 year-old Swiss reached her fourth consecutive Australian Open and will face her sternest test against Davenport, who beat Jennifer Capriati earlier Thursday 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Davenport leads 9-7 in matches against Hingis and has won their last three encounters.

Hingis said Davenport was the leading player on the circuit and she had nothing to lose in their final.
