China's southernmost province of Hainan is to invest 19.5 billion yuan (2.4 billion US dollars) in infrastructure projects this year to boost domestic demand. Addressing the third session of the Hainan Provincial People's Congress, Wang Xiaofeng, governor of Hainan, said that key infrastructure projects, such as the second-phase construction of the Yangpu Port, and the highway project in eastern Hainan, will receive financial support from the government. Li Qi, director of the Hainan Provincial Development Planning Department, said the province will continue to spend money upgrading rural electrical grids rural area and building the automobile manufacturing plant of the First Automobile Works in Hainan. He said the province will also increase investment in industrial projects while continuing to provide financial support to technological upgrading projects this year. |
