Chinese And Ghanaian Foreign Ministers Hold Talks

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan held talks on January 26 with James Victor Gbeho, foreign minister of Ghana, discussing bilateral relations and issues of common concern.

Tang said that Ghana is one of the first African countries to establish diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China.

He noted that the friendly ties between China and Ghana have been developing steadily and the two sides have conducted frequent high-level visits in recent years, adding that China is satisfied with the sound momentum in bilateral cooperation in various fields.

China is willing to join hands with the Ghanaian side to push the friendly cooperation between the two countries to a new level, said Tang.

Tang also thanked the Ghanaian government for its "one China" position and support for China's full reunification.

Gbeho said that Ghana values its relations with China and expects more Chinese investment in his country.

Gbeho reiterated that Ghana will continue its "one China" position and spoke highly of the "China-Africa Cooperation Forum --Ministerial-Level Conference in Beijing in 2000", a program initiated by the Chinese government.

Gbeho and his party arrived here on Sunday at the invitation of Tang.
