More Chinese Officials Go Abroad for Advanced Studies

South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will send 50 young local Party and government officials to other countries for advanced studies this year.

According to local sources, the 50 people will be from among 55candidates chosen through open examinations. The 55, with an average age of 30.4 years and all with bachelors degrees or higher,are now enrolled in a six-month intensive English course at a local college.

After their English studies, the 55 candidates are required to pass specially designed English tests, and 50 of them will be sent abroad to study business administration and other subjects in the United States, Britain and Singapore for 15 months.
