Co-Funded Power Generators Operational in East China

The first two generators of the Rizhao Power Plant in the coastal city of Rizhao in east China's Shandong Province, funded by Chinese, Israeli, and German investment has become operational after a successful trial run.

The generators have an installed capacity of 350 megawatt and are among several generators with a combined capacity of 2,400 megawatts. Work on the plant began in 1997 costing an estimated 600 million US dollars.

The investors are China Electrical Investment Co. Ltd.(27 percent), Siemens (12.5 percent) and an Israeli corporation (12.5 percent),the Shandong Provincial Power Company and three other local companies.

The power plant is one of the first group of infrastructure projects in China getting its funds through the BOT method. It will be wholly owned by China in 20 years.
