The head of the Afghan Taliban Interim Council, Mulla Mohammad Rabbani, will soon visit Pakistan for talks on bilateral issues, Afghan sources said January 16.

The date for the visit has not been fixed yet and the two sides are coordinating to finalize the plan for the trip, according to the sources.

It will be Rabbani's first visit to Pakistan after the military takeover in Islamabad in October last year. Rabbani, number two in the Taliban hierarchy, had visited Pakistan when deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif was in office.

The issue of terrorism is likely to be on the top of the agenda, the sources said.

Sharif had accused the Taliban of allowing some Pakistani students of religious schools to receive training in terrorist camps in their controlled areas.

Controversy over the Afghan Transit Trade Agreement may be another major issue for discussion. The Taliban are under pressure from Afghan traders to resolve the long-standing dispute with Pakistan over the transit trade. (Xinhua)
