A book on the environment situation of Macao, the first of its kind, has been published and a ceremony was held in Macao at the Macao World Trade Center January 17 noon to mark the occasion.

The book was compiled by the Environment Council of Macao together with Portuguese environmental specialists.

The book is composed of six parts with the first one expounding the aim of compiling the book and the second one listing the functions of the Environment Council and other governmental departments.

The third part analyzes the close relationship between the environment and local social and economic development while the fourth part deals with the local environmental characteristics in terms of climate, air, water, waste, green areas and noise.

The fifth part is about the measures to improve the environment, such as education, supervision over economic activities, environment management mechanism, environment-friendly infrastructure, environmental publications and the observation of international conventions.

On the basis of the above-mentioned parts, the last part of the book proposes feasible actions that can be taken in Macao in the future.
