Chinese Foreign Minister TangJiaxuan left Harare on Saturday morning for Mozambique to continuehis five-nation African tour.

During his three-day official visit to Zimbabwe, Tang Jiaxuanmet with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe Friday, discussing bilateral relations and international issues of common concern.

Mugabe said both Zimbabwe and China have enjoyed traditional friendship and cooperation, which will be constantly consolidatedand developed and will continue to benefit the two peoples.

Tang, who arrived Thursday, also held talks with his Zimbabwean counterpart Stan Mudenge and signed an agreement onestablishing a political consultation mechanism between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

According to the agreement, the high-level officials of the two countries will hold regular meetings on issues of common concern.

Meanwhile, Mudenge reaffirmed Zimbabwe's unswerving commitment to the "One China" policy.

"This is a bedrock of our relations with the People's Republic of China," the minister at a reception in honor of Tang on Friday evening.

Mudenge, who witnessed the return of Hong Kong and Macau to China, praised China's "One Country, Two Systems" policy.

"I look forward to the final fulfillment of this policy when the province of Taiwan also embraces the motherland," he said.

Seeing the Chinese minister off at the Harare International Airport were Mudenge and some other Zimbabwean officials, and Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Huang Guifang. (Xinhua)
