China Aviation Corporation to Export 200 Planes in Next Five Years

The China Aviation Industry Corporation II will increase its industrial output to hit 36 billion yuan (4.3 billion US dollars) in 2005, and strive to export 200 aircraft in the next five years, general manager Zhang Yanzhong announced on January 10.

Zhang disclosed at a national working conference held here today that the corporation's industrial output reached 15.7 billion yuan in 1999, up 4.6 percent on an annual basis. And the production and sales of its civilian products registered stable growth.

Statistics show that the enterprise manufactured 183,000 vehicles last year, up 9.8 percent, and sold 184,000, up 18.7 percent.

The corporation even produced and sold 56.8 percent and 57.6 percent of the country's total mini-cars respectively during January-November last year, according to Zhang.

The corporation, one of China's top ten military industry enterprises, has 54 large and medium-sized firms and 210,000 staff, with total assets of 31.5 billion yuan.

It mainly produces helicopters and fighter planes as well as compact cars and motorcycles.
