China will establish more than100 high-tech start-up service centers in accordance with international standards over the next five years as part of its efforts to promote new and high-tech industries. Chinese Vice-Minister of Science and Technology Xu Guanhua said this will bring the total number of high-tech start-up service centers in the country to about 200. According to Xu, a series of policies will be implemented to create a more favorable environment for the development of these centers. Universities and research institutes are encouraged to set up high-tech start-up service centers, Xu said. China has established about 100 such centers over the past decade, which have helped create more than 1,300 high-tech enterprises. These enterprises now employ 140,000 people, with annual revenues amounting to 10 billion yuan. (Xinhua) |
