South China City Striving to Attract More Tourists

Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, will hold a galaxy of activities this year to attract tourists to the city.

These activities are designed to boost the city's tourism industry under the theme "China New Millennium" created by the National Tourism Administration (NTA) for the year 2000.

According to local sources, Guangzhou will host a great number of festivals focused on food and cooking, tour guide education, tea culture, and folk activities such as stuffed rice dumpling festivals, dragon boat contests, lotus flower festivals, litchi festivals, and the Mid-Autumn festivals.

In the meantime, the city will also organize a number of other tourism promotion events, said the sources.

Guangzhou is the major transportation hub of south China, and has grown into one of China's most popular tourist destinations thanks to its attractions and economic progress.
