The 20th century had departed, a century that had seen the speediest developments of economies, sciences and technologies and the biggest holocausts as well in human history. But against accursed old-brand imperialist powers fighting for lording over the word of the past, we are somewhat relieved to say peace has somewhat been kept in today's world. Though no monstrous "World War III" seems to be feared by people for the present yet various forms of inhuman armed conflicts as "airstrikes", "bombing" and the like have wrought the largest havoc on many peoples and countries throughout the world. What should we do since peace is wanted and all causes for wars and human misfortunes are to be uprooted in the new century? There is already in the making a new view on world security held by people, namely, to work out a new mechanism, rules and systems to check the use of force and put on leash all power politics pushed by a few world powers. Though the UN and the like international bodies are still in imperfect forms yet their role has been irreplaceable in the last fifty and more years. Moreover, their potential role to be exploited by a majority of large, medium and small countries in curbing power politics can by no means be belittled. In the new 21st century, there will certainly be given rise to many a varied global and regional mechanisms and forms as of big-power strategic partnerships developed. With these there will be possibilities and the hope for other forces as the third party to keep a vigilant eye on all future monstrous wars. To prevent war despoliation is an important part to the whole of the effort against any outbreak of wars. But a regretful thing is that when a relaxation has been brought about in international politics a few world powers armed with sophisticated weaponry has instead of working for a reduction of their arms tried their utmost to seek military supremacy over the others of the world. Problems therefore arise with their ill effect on world security and arms control in the new century. Instead of arms control as providing merely a temporary solution to problems predicted, a permanent cure is absolutely needed for a reduction of armed conflicts in the 21st century. A look into history shows that the desire by men for social equality and justice are as strong as the hope for peace and world stability. In the new century, when a speedy advance of information and globalization is being effected by men throughout the world not a happy thing people will find from a widening of difference or disparities between rich and poor for protecting world peace. National and religious difference and confrontations between different economic opposites and the way they reciprocally act upon each other and a mutual transformation of internal and international conflicts will bring new threats to world stability. On the part of various peoples throughout the world, when sustained economic developments are kept close attention should be also be given to such "millennium bugs" as unequal distribution, corruption and moral crisis universally found in order that world peace be securely guaranteed in the new century.
