More than 800 Chinese students returning from their studies abroad met on December 28 at a High-tech Talent Exchange Fair in China's southern city of Guangzhou. Among those who attended the Fair, 60 percent obtained Ph. D. degrees abroad. Six hundred and two project proposals have been submitted at the three-day fair, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Personnel. Some 28 provincial and municipal governments sent officials to the Fair to scout for talent. China has some 300,000 students now studying overseas. At the opening ceremony Monday, Guangzhou mayor Li Shusen said that the Fair provides an excellent opportunity for those students to show their achievements and talents and for them to seek jobs back home. |
