The China Sports Newspaper Group was established in Beijing on December 28

The group, affiliated with the China State General Administration for Sports (CSGA), includes China Sports Daily, New Sports Magazine, People's Sports Publishing House and the English-language Chinese Sports Magazine. The publisher is He Huixian, also director of the CSGA publicity department.

All four publications started in the 1950s and have played a major role in promoting sports in China. The merger of the four publications was done for economic reasons. It was also seen as what readers wanted.
