Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei Province, is expected to forge closer ties with Macao in the fields of industry, science, technology, finance and tourism.

Though Macao enjoys trade preferences in the export of commodities to Europe and the United States, it has a hard time develops industries because of increased land costs and labour and a shortage of qualified scientific personnel and advanced technology. However, Wuhan has profound resources of scientific personnel as an industrial city with a sound base.

City leadership has urged local enterprises to go in for trans-regional production or set up marketing conglomerates in co-operation with firms from Macao and take Macao as the shopsite and Wuhan as the manufacturing center.
