Chinese State Councilor Wang Zhongyu today called on administrative colleges to redouble efforts to train more competent public servants. Wang, also secretary-general of the State Council, made the call at a national meeting of presidents of administrative colleges, which opened on December 27 in Beijing. Wang said that with the new millennium on the horizon, China faces many new challenges which call for more qualified public servants. Administrative colleges, which are set up to train public servants at all levels, should focus on the new tasks of government and put theory into practice, Wang said. He also urged governments at all levels to support the work and development of administrative colleges so that they can play a bigger role in the country's future. |
