Afghanistan's ruling Taliban Saturday denied reports that the hijackers of an Indian plane had sought political asylum from the militia.

Sources from Kandahar, Taliban's headquarters in Southern Afghanistan, said a senior Taliban official dismissed such reports.

The Indian Airlines Airbus-300 plane landed earlier Saturday morning at the Kandahar airport after having flown to Pakistan and United Arab Emirates.

Taliban authorities said they allowed the plane to land because the pilot had been exhausted, and they hoped the aircraft would leave as early as possible.
