Teaching Building for Qinghua's Law Institute Opens

With a 21 million HK dollars donation from a Hong Kong compatriot, a teaching building for the law institute under Qinghua University, one of China's most prestigious schools, opened on December 22 in Beijing.

Rong Zhijian, chairman of a well-known Hong Kong-based trust and investment corporation, donated 30 million HK dollars to the university in 1996 to further the development of law education.

Construction of the new building, which began in November 1997, used 21 million HK dollars from the fund and 10 million yuan from the university treasury.

The 10,000 m2 building features Roman architecture and is equipped with advanced teaching and research facilities and a 2, 000-sq m law library.
