Liaoning Mounts Wildlife Protection Campaign

Northeast China's Liaoning Province has carried out a series of campaigns in recent years to protect wildlife in the region.

These campaigns, initiated by the provincial government and the forestry bureau, are designed to crack down on the illegal killing and smuggling of wildlife.

To date, Liaoning has handled nearly 100 such cases, including smuggling of giant panda and tiger skins, and punished dozens of criminals.

More than 300 injured or poached animals have been rescued and returned to the wild.

Liaoning is home to an abundance of wild animals and plant species, of which many are under state protection.

Over the past few years, the province has adopted a number of regulations concerning the protection of wild animals, and it now has 21 nature reserves totaling 140,000 hectares, of which seven are state-level reserves.
