Overseas investors have become increasingly attracted to the forestry industry in south China's Guangdong Province in recent years. To date, the province has signed 113 foreign-funded forestry projects worth a total of nearly one billion US dollars. Guangdong has a forest area of 9.5 million hectares and a timbe reserve of 291 million cubic meters. The province's forest coverage has now reached 56 percent. These projects include a variety of fields such afforestation, paper production, orchards, timber processing, and related scientific research and technological development. To attract more investors worldwide, the province has implemented a series of favorable policies for investment in forestry. (Xinhua) |
