China's expected entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) is expected to create a substantial rise in the number of overseas firms in the country, lending a boost to companies that provide special services for corporate users. "We expected that all major financial institutions will come to China in the next few years as China joins WTO," said Gary Mueller, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Internet Securities, Inc. (ISI). Mueller's company provides financial, economic and political information of emerging markets such as China and Brazil for business users, through Internet distribution, said today's China Daily Business Weekly. In China, ISI has more than 100 corporate users, most of whom are international financial companies. Other subscribers to their bilingual service include companies in sectors such as information technology, telecommunications, oil, automotives and real estate Mueller said he believes China's entry into the WTO will benefit companies like ISI, as more multinational companies will be keen on accessing China's information. "We look for our revenue to grow 100 percent a year for the next three years in China," he said. ISI's worldwide revenue last year was 11 million US dollars. It offers services in 18 countries. As part of its steps to address the growing demand and confidence in China's Internet market, backed by the WTO deal with the United States, ISI will open a solely-owned company in Shanghai in less than three months. ISI has more than 180 information providers in China from different industries. Some 2,000 business news items are updated everyday. The powerful search service enables users to get connected with its database for China's statistics, stocks, laws and other business information, Mueller said. "We want to move to be public business portal for China's corporate users," he said. The company's current services are subscription-based, which ensures a more reliable revenue than other Internet information providers who bet their development primarily on Web advertisement. Although financial information is ISI's current focus in China, Mueller expects that his company will enjoy more corporate users in industries such as telecommunications and other information technologies that show strong growth momentum. |
