NPC Strengthens Supervision over Forest Law Enforcement

The Forest Law Enforcement Inspection Group of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee held a meeting in Beijing Tuesday to hear work reports by Forest Law enforcement departments.

The move is aimed at strengthening supervision over enforcement of the Forest Law.

Buhe, vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said that in the past three months much progress has been made in enforcing the Forest Law. He said that forest police and forest administrations should make every effort to earnestly implement the Forest Law.

Buhe also called for effective management systems of forest resources to be set up to realize its sustainable development.

Those who submitted reports at the meeting included officials from the State Forestry Administration, the State Development Planning Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Public Security. (Xinhua)
