The Shanghai Eastern Air Pudong Catering Company, a joint effort between Shanghai and Hong Kong, became operational on Thursday at the Pudong International Airport in Shanghai Pudong New Area. The company was created at a cost of 28 million US dollars and has a catering complex covering 28,500 square meters of floor space. The company has imported advanced facilities from overseas and can cater to 45,000 airline passengers a day, making it the largest such venture in Asia. The company is an arm of the Shanghai Eastern Air Catering Co. Ltd., which was jointly established in 1982 by the Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines and an air catering company in Hong Kong.
