The picturesque city of Guilin in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has attracted more than 400,000 Macao tourists since 1978, when China launched its reform and opening-up policy. More than 10,000 Macao people have visited Guilin annually in recent years, statistics show. On the eve of Macao's return to the motherland, Guilin is holding a number of tourist activities to celebrate the event. In the past ten days alone, more than 3,000 Macao compatriots attended the 7th Guilin Mountain and River Tourism Festival. As a matter of fact, Guilin and Macao, both in southern China, had links more than a century ago, and they now have flights between them every day. |
