Vietnam Refutes IHRW's Assessment on Vietnam's Human Rights

A spokesman for the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Friday refuted International Human Rights Watch's (IHRW) assessment on the situation of Vietnam's human rights.

Answering a question on Vietnam's comment on the annual report released by the IHRW on Friday, the Vietnamese spokesman said the IHRW's report was completely groundless as it lacks objectiveness.

He said the IHRW's assessment showed that it fails to fully perceive what has been going on in Vietnam.

He said the Vietnamese people had suffered great sacrifices and losses to gain the most essential human right -- the right to live in peace, independence and freedom. (Xinhua)
