Macao Ready for Return to Motherland's Embrace

Swarms of tourists are taking pictures in front of the Hand-Over Hall taking up an area of 6000 square meters to accommodate 2500 people. The reviewing stand forms the principal part of the hall where the Chinese and Portugal dignitaries and members from official delegations are to be seated. A flagpole is erected in the reviewing stand area. Representatives of various countries and international bodies and invited guests will take their seats on a great stand.

The ceremony for founding the Macao SAR and the oath-taking of the Macao SAR government will be held in the Macao Overall Art Hall not far away from the Hand-Over Hall. The Macao Overall Art Hall has been completed with Fujian granite to be matched with lotus flowers and reliefs featuring the dancing folks of all Chinese ethnic groups.

The press center has been in operation since December 6. It takes up 6000 square meters consisting of a printing center, a broadcasting center and an area for ancillary services. 400 desks are available for reporters on the eight floor of a great hall. And computers are on 50 desks for language processing, printing and getting access to networking. The press center has made provision for catering, banking, post office, express mail and photo printing. Up to now 3500 reporters have arrived in Macao to cover the ceremony.
