The Shanghai municipal government has launched a website to introduce domestic companies free of charge.

The website with the address http://www.sif-expo.com.cn, has attracted more than 200 enterprises and nearly 100,000 visitors since its went on-line in May.

Less than 1,000 enterprises in the city are now on-line.

Shi Cong, chairman of the Shanghai Internet Information Company, said that businesspeople would now have access to all kinds of economic information.

The Shanghai International Industry Fair from December 13 to 17 will display an array of high technology, machinery, pharmaceuticals, and new materials. 1,600 scientific and technological products will be on display during the fair.

The fair and website are expected to accelerate the economic development of China's largest industrial city and also inspire local enterprises to make use of high technology. (Xinhua)
