Manzhouli Enjoys Sino-Russia Trade Boom

Border trade between China and Russia at Manzhouli, China's largest land port, has developed steadily this year, according to foreign trade statistics.

The statistics show that the import and export volume of the city has surpassed 300 million US dollars, an increase of 30 percent over the same period last year.

The quality of the commodities traded through the city, which is located in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has improved with the variety more diversified, foreign trade officials said.

Beginning this year, the city government adopted stern measures to cut dozens of miscellaneous service charges related to foreign trade. It also improved the management of port areas, while urging workers at road and railway departments to improve their work efficiency.

The city also has passed regulations aimed at attracting foreign investment, and given tax incentives to foreign firms.

Recently, several large companies engaged in paper pulp, tourism, and other sectors have set up subsidiaries in Manzhouli, becoming a driving forces behind the growth of Sino-Russian border trade.
