Russian President Boris Yeltsin arrived in Beijing Thursday morning to start his two-day visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin. The two heads of state are scheduled to hold their second informal summit hours later, during which Jiang and Yeltsin will confer on Sino-Russian relations and the current international situation. The first "no-tie" summit was held in Moscow in November last year. Chinese top legislator Li Peng and Premier Zhu Rongji are also expected to meet with President Yeltsin on Thursday. President Yeltsin's entourage, including his wife Naina Yeltsina, his daughter Tatyana Dyachenko, and Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, were also in Beijing aboard the same plane. Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Ji Peiding, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Wu Tao and Russian Ambassador to China Igor Rochachev were among those greeting Yeltsin and his party at the airport.(Xinhua) |
