China should study the new characteristics and training procedures of foreign military officials and further carry out the diplomatic principles and policies of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee and President Jiang Zemin's important statements on the international strategic issues, a senior Chinese military official said Tuesday. General Chi Haotian, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, State Councilor and minister of National Defense, made the remarks during his inspection of the University of National Defense. As the highest military learning institute in China, the university has taken the lead in the training of foreign military officials, has accumulated a lot of valuable experience and set a good example for the People's Liberation Army, Chi said. He pointed out that under the new international situation, the training of foreign military officials should be expanded as an important way of international military co-operation and a way to improve the unity and co-operation with other countries. He called on relevant units to study and master China's diplomatic policies and improve the training of foreign military officials. (Xinhua) |
